CCW Orange County

Course Description:
The Orange County Sheriff-Coroner and other California counties have authorized this course as a requirement to attain a California CCW Permit. Special requests for Private Courses are available for an additional fee.

The CCW course material will include: Current CCW laws, permit holder responsibilities, ethical considerations, live fire training, concealment tactics and qualification as mandated by local and state law.

Required Form: Hold Harmless Form (download and print)

Required Equipment:
Eye and ear protection
Holster (Strong side)
Magazines (2 w/pouches or 3 speedloaders for revolver)
Primary weapon (300 rounds)
Additional weapons (50 rounds each)

You may list an unlimited number of handguns on your CCW permit and you must qualify with each during the course. This course does not guarantee issuance of a CCW permit by the County which you applied for.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department will only accept satisfactory completion of a program from a provider that appears on this list. No preference is shown, or inferred, by the order of placement on this list.

Intro to Firearms (Classroom) 4 Hours $150

I5 Training’s Intro to Firearms Course is based on The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting and is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation. During this instructor-led course you will receive direct instruction from an NRA-certified instructor from beginning to end. 

Course topics include: gun safety rules, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, pistol selection and storage, shooting fundamentals, pistol inspection and maintenance, marksmanship, and shooting range safety. Students will receive the NRA Guide: Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination and receive a course completion certificate bearing the signature of the NRA Secretary and your NRA Certified Instructor.

Optionally: Students may complete live fire training and a nationally standardized shooting qualification while on the range with an NRA Certified Instructor for an additional fee.
